Red Plastic Bag

Stedson Wiltshire, the Calypsonian with the unusual sobriquet Red Plastic Bag (RPB) to his friends and thousands of fans, was born in, and still resides in the Parish of St. Philip, Barbados. He entered calypso arena in 1979, and since then he has become Barbados's most travelled, honoured, and most prolific songwriter/ Calypsonian. In spite of his success, the tall, quiet and dignified family man has remained a man of the people, and this is reflected in his thought provoking Calypsoes, which generally reflect their concerns.

Red Plastic Bag is acknowledged as one of the world's best Calypsonians not only by his fans but also by many of his fellow Calypsonians, both in Barbados and all over the Caribbean. When performing on stage Red Plastic Bag is completely opposite to his normal character. There his lyrics are cutting, and filled with vitriol, humour and scorn. When mixed with his scathing commentary this potent brew sends his adoring fans into rapturous delight.

This Calypsonian dubbed the "The Lyrical Master" is not just a Calypsonian with a song or two at Carnival or Crop Over time. He is one of the best party songwriters in the world. His Soca hit song "Ragga Ragga" is one of the best known Soca songs in the world. This year "Volcano" was one of the most popular songs at the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and is still rocking the Dance Halls all over the world since winning the road march title in Barbados last year.

To date Red Plastic Bag has written more than 16 Albums, and in addition to writing many songs for other Calypsonians. There is still a lot more to come.
